Some cat cotigation:
Hili: I’m thinking.
A: What about?
Hili: About hypocrites who pretend to be righteous.

Hili: Myślę.
Ja: O czym?
Hili: O hipokrytach, którzy udają sprawiedliwych.
Ja: O czym?

And here are some tweets to set you up for the day:

But Hili, that accounts for nearly all of them. Will give you a headache.
Lucio Fontana looks as if he’s about to leap through the canvas.
He was. With a knife.
Never understood why his art was special. Pretty dumb to me.
His work has been selling recently for $5 – $10 million or so. There are, apparently, those who do not consider this dumb.
Really? Wow! Yeah, it’s hard to argue against the subjectivity of aesthetics.
Agreed. But, I think it’s valuable to realize that artistic sensibility is a world unto it’s own. People who are inclined to the visual arts study it in much the same way as physicists explore the way matter behaves. To the uninitiated, any refinement of art or science will seem strange and even incomprehensible. Art can be mysterious just as quantum mechanics seems strange to most people.
Lucio Fontana standing before that blank canvas reminds me of what Red Smith said about writing: “It’s easy. You just open a vein and bleed.”
Excellent.
The first thought seeing the Fontana photo is that he’s wondering where to start. Which is probably true. But, in fact he was the founder of Spacialism, and had something else in mind. He is famous for his slash paintings and hole paintings which were created by slashing cuts and punching holes with a knife. Here’s one of his more realistic works:
Here’s a more typical slash painting:
Are the slight variations in colour here in the original, or are they an artifact of the photo or compression technique?
The canvas is probably painted in an even color. The slashes are actual cuts which cause relief giving shadows. He often place black gauze on the back of the panel to emphasize the depth and space behind the canvas.
Whereas most people who try that approach are instantly arrested by the police, whatever it is they’re protesting about…

Thanks for the tweets. Under the circumstances, they are, as PCC(E) would say, lagniappe.
I wake up this morning to learn that Trump claims the impeachment inquiry is a lynching. A new perversely inverted kind of white victimology. He’s corked up and co-opted the fact of lynching of African Americans as well as the historical narrative; now he’s the consummate African American victim, the exemplar. This is postmodern minstrelsy par excellence:
‘This is a big lynching. A beautiful lynching. The best lynching. It’s costing millions and billions of dollars. Nobody gets lynched better than me. Even Justice Uncle Thomas and Loser Barak Obama haven’t been lynched better than me.’ Cue weepy, sentimental Stephen Foster plantation songs.
This false equivalency is obscene beyond measure (but what else is new?); and his chief cracker toady from South Carolina, Lindsey Graham, agrees — that, too, is frightening.
His latest foolish quote from yesterday in regards to his proposal of having the G-7 at his Doral resort: “You people with this phony Emoluments Clause.”
Hey, dipshit, it happens to appear in black & white in the Constitution: Article 1, Section 9, paragraph 8. You know, the Constitution, that thing you made an oath to follow and protect.
Then he lied and bragged about being the only POTUS to not accept a salary, and lied about Washington not accepting a salary either.
Fact check: Kennedy didn’t accept a salary and Washington accepted a salary almost twice that of modern Presidents. I wish the press, during these meltdowns would stop reporting his bullshit as if it were fact. The press is still completely incompetent in how they cover Trump and it does a disservice to the American people. It really pisses me off.
Also, if the Doral resort was chosen, Trump would have gotten a security upgrade worth millions, including a helipad. This talk of “it will be at cost, saving taxpayers millions” is a complete load of shit, in line with 98% of what Trump says and does.
OK, I feel a little better now.
I’ve looked at Trump bullshit generators of various kinds and have come to the conclusion that there’s nothing like what he actually says and writes, such as @therealdonaldtrump. Ain’t it funny what’s “real”? In this casse, real fake news that shows him for what he really is.
Re the Doral scheme, I heard that he’d also get his golf course upgraded — for security reasons, undoubtedly. But I bet the bed bugs and cockroaches would still be there, because he loves parasites and vermin. Takes one to know one.
Just for the record, Herbert Hoover also declined his salary. I think the actual mechanism was that he handed his checks directly over to charity.
Dogs are red-green colorblind so the gorgeous sunrise would look quite a bit duller to them. If you want to see how dull there are some image processing sites that simulate dog vision.
