General of the Ducks

I didn’t think much about ducks until last year when suddenly I became smitten, but if I had been this smitten when I was younger then this kid’s experience would be paradise: far more enticing than 72 dark-eyed virgins. General of the Ducks!!!

The YouTube caption

This toddler felt powerful as he lead an army of ducks along a trail. The wild animals followed him wherever he went and stopped whenever he stopped.

Now I’ll go feed my brood of two.

    Homely kid.

(I kid, I kid! Sometimes I just get an overwhelming compulsion to say the most inappropriate thing that pops into my head. Kid’s cute.)

He’s white and, well, “he”. This imprinting of white masculinity on the anatines must stop! #cancelwhiteduckboy

I wasn’t a duck fan (they were just another outdoor bird) until I was in my early 30’s. A massive storm in the south suburbs of Chicago managed to separate two baby ducklings from the rest of their family. Some neighborhood boys brought the babies to me and I fed and raised them until they were adults (they had to be just under a week old). I had come across the mother and the other babies a few weeks later near my house which was near a river. The two babies I took in were bigger than their siblings since my adopted duckies were eating MUCH better than the ones out in the wild. I’ve loved ducks and geese ever since.

Watch this kid closely. As soon as they we hear rumblings of annexing the Sudetenland, we better take him and his army out. Hopefully, we can keep them contained, but we should probably start reinforcing lines across strategic points in western Europe.

Re ducks and virgins. Embrace the healing power of “and”.

“72 dark-eyed virgins” – Sounds good on the face of it, but you know, eternity is a very long time.
