The first transcript includes this graph from a Gallup poll that documents the growth of nonbelief in America. Remember that the “nones,” who comprise those not affiliated with any faith, include not only atheists and agnostics but people who consider themselves “spiritual” or religious but not part of any organized faith:
This will not hearten those who say that “religion will always be with us,” and, indeed, I don’t think it will be. It’s just that we won’t be around when it disappears.
