    We had two cats that did something similar. It their case they’d close their eyes and turn their heads away and strike out blindly. Occasionally one would really give the other a really good slap around the head!

    This would only happen at feeding time. Both were neutered males.

    It seems more like slow-motion hostility than repressed hostility. Those are unhappy cat ears!
