Happy New Year!

It’s not 2013 yet, at least in America, but I’ll put this post up for the rest of the world as the first of the new year. It’s a cat, of course, hatin’ on a fake cat. One could see it as a metaphor. . .

    Happy New Year.

Why would one see this as a metaphor? And what would be the metaphor one should see?

Not that I am not into cats or anything. But, I really am not.
    ;)

    Friends,

What would a metaphor be for a cat hating upon a fake cat?

    Help me out here.

A cat hating upon a fake cat is similar to tilting at windmills, which is what people do when they try to reconcile science and religion.

WordPress ate the longer reply. So, the short one was: I don’t get it.

Fake cat images are notoriously bad at converting wind power to usable mechanical or electrical power, so the windmill comparison baffles me. Happy New Year.

Happy New Year, Jerry from Birmingham, Engerland, a little bit squiffy and in an irascible mood, having suffered the ego-fest of ‘Jools’ Hootenanny’ and his tiresome self-regarding aspic-retro boogie-woogie to see in the New Year; hell, he and his band even made Bobby Womack sound like cabaret. Things can only get better in 2013 after that insult to pop music, entertainment, musical innovation and my ears. Kisses all round.

Happy New Year Jerry from the second “Brummie” in this post

I saw in the New Year in bed listening to radio comedy with a glass of red & slept well

@Dermot C. I gave up on Jools’ pre-recorded** fake show after the first broadcast a few years ago ‘thou I do record it to fast forward to notable moments. I remember enjoying “Always Something There To Remind Me” performed by JH & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra with the lovely Sandie Shaw & also Tom Jones one year was utterly mind blowing.

** Well I realise they nearly ALL are & have been for decades, but I notice the level of fakery far more with that establishment, hobnobbing ass-kisser Jools at the tiller

Yeah, I hate Jools with a vehemence beyond reason, my own well-being and neurological equanimity. However, to be fair to him, my sister, in the 80s in London, used to know him and all his crew – Malcolm Hardy, Robbie Coltrane, the Young Ones hangers-on, Arthur Smith. She said that Holland was the nicest of the lot, modest, personable (I know! hard to beleive).

While we’re on the subject of shafting celebrities, my sister described Coltrane as the most objectionable and self-regarding of that clique. At a party once, even though she hardly knew him and which she wasn’t hosting, Coltrane, Skimpole-like, requested of her, in that irritating, camp, educated, sub-Miss Jean Brodie, Scottish tone, “Can you be getting Robbie a wee glass of white wine, darling?”

The metaphor is cat v fake cat
The metaphor represents Jerry’s fight against religion or ceiling cat v god.

I think you’re right. “Strawman” was the first thing that came to my mind, but it didn’t quite fit, somehow…

Is ‘paper tiger’ closer to the mark?

(Anybody here never read the Little Red Book? I suppose USians coulda been locked up for that, back in Mao’s day)

It sounded familiar, but I had to look it up to remember. Yes, I think you hit the nail on the head, there. Especially, if the paper tiger is, in this case, is either the Tea Party, Dominionists, or the “Moral Majority.” Well done!

We watched Asian pop. Cute as pie. But trying to look cuacasian with skin snd hair bleaching. And the music is out of a sausage machine, in other words techno-electro. But great rhythm for disco dancing. I concentrated on the cute chicks and their awfully cute expressions.
    Where can I buy one?

They and the sausage machine output are masquerading as something they’re not. You sure you want to invest yourself in that? ;)

With a few skilled swats of its deceptively soft paws, this cat is exposing the imposter so others will not be fooled. We need more cats like this one, but hey, if you are the type that prefers the faux remains concealed, knock yourself out and scold the real cat.

Prop-up cardboard cat cut-out. The new laser pointer, for a few months at least?
