Seven bears a-hunting

At Brooks Falls, Alaska, it’s still light out, and seven brown bears are combing the falls for salmon.  The fish appear thin on the ground, though, and I haven’t seen any nomming.

Here’s a screenshot:

I just saw one catch a fish and walk away with it in its mouth.

    “It’s still light out”…

The funny thing is, you can log in at 6am your time (when it’s in the dead of “night” in the Katmai forest), and it will still be light out this time of year.

You can see the light diminished somewhat, but there was a lonely bear still fishing out there when I checked in the dead of night last night. The skies go a little grey, then brighten up again. I miss Alaska this time of year. (grew up there)

He just finished, and as he moved away, white birds (gulls?) immediately arrived. Are they going for fishy remnants?

Yes, I saw that several times as well where they were cleaning up the scraps.

Four nursing cows, three big studs, two cameras, and a stream filled with food for all!
